Hill & Dale Preserve

About the Preserve

The Hill & Dale Preserve provides magnificent and sweeping views of preserved farmland and distant mountains. From the highest point, look eastward to the Watchung Mountains, or westward to the Round Valley Reservoir and Cushetunk Mountain. Headwater springs within the woods and fields provide water to the pristine trout producing Rockaway Creek that runs along the Preserve. Come explore the Preserve’s forests and fields to see Cooper’s Hawk, Wood Thrush, Veery and Brown Thrasher. The preserve is also home to bobcat, fox, and black bear. The Preserve is farmed by a local family that has grown grains and hay on these lands for over 50 years. Read more about the Hill & Dale preserve and view a full trail guide here >>

While at the preserve, be sure to admire Tucker Meadow, dedicated to the memory of Bob Tucker, who loved New Jersey’s beautiful landscapes. The restoration of the meadow in Bob’s honor is made possible by the generosity of the CTW Foundation. Bob joined the CTW Foundation in 1959 and served for 57 years, many of them as President, until his passing in 2016.
